Natural Child

Sun’s coming up leaving California
Task force agent pulls us to the side of the road
Says, “Where are you coming from, boys? Where are you headed?”
Said, “We’re leaving the coast, we’re going home
Well it’s been a long month since we were back in Nashville
From New York to Frisco and everywhere in between
And no sir, we don’t have nothing on us
Just some papers and some baggies and a mouthful of weed.”

On a back road passing through Nevada
Get a funny feeling in the back of my mind
Said, if these old roads could just go on forever
I’d ride and that’d be just fine

Cause when the good times are over they’re all over
And I’ve been all over getting these good times
And it’s hard to watch ‘em roll past my shoulder
Yeah, it’s hard to leave ‘em all behind

Two hundred miles from the Tennessee border
Bought my dinner off the shelf at a Citgo in some old town
Wish we had a show to get to somewhere
Staring at the road to home is bringing me down
Well, I wish we were at some party back in LA
Sharing a line with Noonan and some of the friends
Guess we’re gonna get back to it some day
But I’ll be sad and lonesome till then

Cause when the good times are over they’re all over
And I’ve been all over getting these good times
And it’s hard to watch ‘em roll past my shoulder
Yeah, it’s hard to leave ‘em all behind

Let ‘em roll, let the good times roll…
